Time Sure Does Fly

Getting used to this blue car parked outside has taken me a little while to get used to. The car, a blue Chevy Impala, was passed on to Eric by my father and Erics’ grandfather, Owen, a few days ago. For that Ann, Eric and I will always be grateful
OK, so it is not as if he’s getting his license tomorrow, but it’s safe to say that he’ll be driving by the end of this school year. Eric will soon get his learners permit, then move on to drivers-ed some time next month.
Part of me believes that Eric is excited, but a bit hesitant about jumping right into learning the rules of the road. I don’t mean that in a critical way. You see, he’s got an already busy daily schedule with school and rehearsals for his next school play, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, in which he’ll be playing Mike TV, so part of me believes that because of his wild schedule, driving may not be on his mind too much.
Yes,it may take a little time for Eric to feel real comfortable driving even though, legally, he is not considered an adult yet. Nor is anyone just getting their license. Even so, I’m quite confident he’ll do fine. Like a lot of people,I’m quite sure that Eric will feel quite nervous as he begins driving, but, like anything else, the more that he does it and gets used to doing it, the more comfortable he’ll begin to feel behind the wheel.
For a couple of days,I told myself to wait awhile to write a blog like this one. Then I decided that writing about something that is a true sign of growth and, yes, adulthood, would be more interesting.
It seems that the license-getting process is pretty much the same as when I got my license more than 30 years ago. The only difference, for me anyway, is that I had numerous brothers and sisters to take me out driving, though the option of drivers-ed, I believe, was still an option.
I know that Eric is smart as heck, but I’m only hoping that the people doing Erics’ class are as capable and thorough teaching Eric and the others about driving as those- bros and sis’-who helped me were.

  1. Eric will master driving like he masters his school (straight A student) and acting!! It truly is a right of passage…how fast time goes ♥️
